Read to be Ready Summer Camps
Five elementary schools have been chosen by the state to host summer camps in June and July targeting our Tier 2 and 3 students for summer remediation. Summer camps are designed to have a 5 to 1 student-teacher ratio with students working on literacy and STEM skills and having fun doing it. Teachers running these camps will receive two days of Read to be Ready Summer Camp training to ensure students get intensive support to prevent summer academic slide. Those schools receiving grants are:
Andersonville Elementary
Claxton Elementary
Grand Oaks Elementary
Norris Elementary
Norwood Elementary

Dutch Valley Elementary's New Pavilion
On Friday, November 17th, Dutch Valley Elementary School celebrated a new addition to their school playground. Over the last few month, the school, and several of its supporters have worked hard to design and build a pavilion that would serve as an outdoor classroom, picnic space, and a community gathering place. The school was able to put this plans in place through the generosity of Mr. Bear Stephenson and hard work of Owen's Brothers Construction. The school celebrated this accomplishment with a ribbon cutting and dedication ceremony. Members of the community, the Anderson County Chamber of Commerce, Anderson County Schools Central Office Staff and Board of Directors were invited to take part in this celebration. It was a good day to be a PIONEER! The school and community are very excited to have this new meeting space.

Anderson County Honors Our Director
You don't meet a director of schools like Dr. Tim Parrott every day, but if you ask him, his expectation is for all employees of the Anderson County School System to reach EVERY STUDENT, EVERY DAY. This month we honor Dr. Parrott, a man who lives his mantra. Many schools in our system held food drives to help fill local many food pantries - many of which serve our students. Dr. Parrott was recognized with Mayberry themes and even had a visit by Anderson County's own version of Earnest T.

UCOR Celebrates...
Anderson County Schools along with UCOR celebrate our custodians! The custodians are the unsung heroes of the buildings. They smile politely as people walk across freshly mopped floors. They are the first to arrive to clean up a bodily fluid "spill," and they can fix or paint just about anything. Thank you custodians for keeping the doors open and the schools running smoothly.
